Intensity is controlled by output current, measured in milliamps (mA). It is not controlled by voltage. We build our devices as constant current systems. When you press the intensity button, you're setting a target current, and the device's circuitry automatically adjusts voltage in the background to hit that target. Safety, Placement, and Contraindications

Do not use a TENS device if you:
• Have a pacemaker, implanted defibrillator, or any other implanted electronic medical device
• Have epilepsy or another seizure disorder
• Are pregnant, unless a healthcare provider has specifically cleared you. Never place pads directly over the abdomen, or the lower back and abdomen area, during pregnancy without medical guidance
• Have a known or suspected blood clot (DVT), active cancer at the treatment site, or an active infection at the treatment site
General placement guidance:
• Never place pads on the front or sides of the neck, near the carotid sinus. Also avoid the chest with pads on both sides of the heart at once, the eyes, broken or irritated skin, and numb areas where you can't accurately gauge sensation
• Start at the lowest intensity and increase gradually. You should feel a strong but comfortable tingling, never sharp pain
• Most sessions run 15 to 30 minutes. Check your specific device's manual for the maximum recommended session length
• Replace gel pads once they lose stickiness or the gel looks dry. A poorly adhered pad increases local skin resistance, which can make the same intensity setting feel weaker overall, or briefly sharper in one spot if contact is patchy
Frequently Asked Questions
Does a higher frequency mean a stronger session?
Not directly. Frequency changes the rhythm and pattern of the pulses, meaning how they're spaced out over time. It doesn't determine how strong they feel. Strength is a separate variable, controlled entirely by intensity, or current, which you adjust independently with the +/- buttons.
Why does my device list two frequency numbers per mode, like "20Hz/40Hz"?
Most modes alternate between two related frequencies, rather than holding one fixed rate. This is designed to reduce nerve accommodation, the tendency for a perfectly steady stimulus to feel like it "fades" over a long session.
What does pulse width actually affect, and why is it fixed at 120μs across every mode?
Pulse width is how long each individual pulse lasts, measured in microseconds. Combined with current, it determines how much electrical charge is delivered per pulse. Keeping pulse width fixed across all modes means sensation is calibrated mainly through intensity and waveform pattern.
Is voltage or current what I'm actually adjusting when I turn up the intensity?
