Week 1–2    Establish a Repeatable Rhythm.

The first two weeks are usually too early to judge the final result. Some inflammatory patches may begin to look less red, scaly, or dry, while vitiligo repigmentation generally needs more sessions before it can be assessed. If visible change is still subtle, or absent, Week 2 is not a failed treatment.

Does targeted 308 nm UVB phototherapy increase skin cancer risk?

Current evidence on 308 nm targeted phototherapy is reassuring but not definitive. A population-based cohort study in patients with vitiligo found no increased risk of actinic keratosis, nonmelanoma skin cancer, or melanoma associated with 308 nm excimer laser treatment. However, long-term cancer-risk data for 308 nm targeted devices remain more limited than for some established phototherapy modalities.¹²

How long does it take to see results?

Think in treatment cycles, not days. Results develop gradually and vary by condition, treatment area, skin type, starting dose, and consistency. A useful first checkpoint is 4–8 weeks, but some areas may require 12 weeks or longer.

 

Vitiligo: Early change may appear as small dots of pigment around hair follicles or along the edge of a patch. In a randomized clinical study, 38.17% of stable vitiligo patches treated with 308nm LED achieved at least 50% repigmentation after 16 sessions.
